You're definitely not hyper, lol! So there's no reason to expect that a stimulant is going to be a good answer; after all how can the "paradoxical calming effect" even happen without the hyperactivity to start with?

Calming your mind while inhaling is possible if you focus all your attention on the air as it flows thru your nostrils, your throat, and into your lungs. You can use scents to help you focus. You can also hold your breath for some time and when you resume breathing, observe how the amount of thinking is related to your intake of air.

To overcome it, you can do two things: First, reduce the amount of information intake as much as you can handle it, without feeling too hungry for stimuli. Second, pay attention to your breathing and think only when exhaling. If it's too hard, then exercise by willing yourself to speak out loud everything you think, while exhaling, no matter what comes out.

adblock is a critical technology for browsing the web. assholes spammers and their flashing ad crap ruin many a good page (including YouTube) without adblock.

Speaking and thinking is the same thing from the point of view of the nervous system. The only difference is that for speaking you have to inhale and then pronounce while exhaling. Oxygen is also needed to nourish the neurons for the task of thinking and having more than one thought per breath leads to overexercising them: that's ADD.

Seems to add up to more stuff to think about. I'll try it, anyway. Thanks for your advice.

I usually say it in my head first then through my mouth. I've been doing that most of my life. But I still get stuck on words and I have to take a minute to retrieve the word.
