only southern portugal and spain have berber (moors) roots. the north have celtiberian ancestry (the first people in the ibarian peninsula). Suevi tribes (germanic) and romans also conquered the iberian peninsula.

The only reason we are still considered white is our government. They base it totally on skin color. But if you listen to lyrics in some hip hop songs you will find that many minorities consider italians their own race. Just listen to How many licks by Lil Kim. White people call us guineas inferring we aren't white. It's not like most of us want to be considered white in the first place. We don't want to be part of a race that pisses everyone off.

Wow this is crazy I've had arguements about this before. I'm half Sicilian and I have an olive tint to my skin, black hair, thicker lips. Sicilian isn't "white". If you go by skin tone, you will see a slight tinting more than a white person. White is for northern and western Europeans, not Eastern Southern Europeans. We are a totally different race with our own values and heritage. It's not fair that we are assumed to be part of the white race since we technically aren't white.
